Liverpool Favourites Ahead Of Tottenham To Sign £30m Premier League Star

Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool are in pole position to sign Michael Keane….

Liverpool are now favourites ahead of Tottenham to sign Burnley centre-back Michael Keane in a £30m deal this summer, according to a report in the Mirror.

Keane has been in excellent form for Burnley this season as he’s played a key role in trying to help Sean Dyche’s men retain their Premier League status for another year.

The 24-year-old has become one of the best young centre-backs in Britain since making a permanent move to Turf Moor from Manchester United in 2015 and he made his senior debut for England against Germany last month.

The defender’s form has attracted interest from the upper echelons of the Premier League with the Telegraph reporting over the weekend that Tottenham were in pole position ahead of Liverpool and United to sign Keane this summer.

Mauricio Pochettino is looking to further strengthen his squad ahead of Tottenham’s return to the Champions League next season and Keane could be viewed as a potential replacement for Kevin Wimmer – who’s tipped to leave White Hart Lane after failing to hold down a regular place.

However, it seems Spurs still have a fight on their hands to sign Keane as the Mirror are citing a report from the Sun that claims Liverpool are in fact leading the race for his signature.

Jurgen Klopp is also expected to be busy in the market this summer and a new dominant centre-back is desperately needed as a leaky defence has undermined Liverpool’s title hopes this season.

Keane appears to be on Klopp’s radar as the newspaper report indicates the Merseysiders are ready to build their defence around the youngster if he completes a £30m switch to Anfield this summer.

It’s certainly going to be interesting to see how things develop but it looks as though Liverpool and Tottenham are ready to fight-it-out over Keane’s signature and I think he’d be a superb addition for either club.
