Chelsea extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to seven points after beating Southampton 4-2 at Stamford Bridge this evening.

The Blues opened the scoring in the 5th minute as Eden Hazard fired low in to the bottom corner after being teed-up by Diego Costa before Oriol Romeu levelled things up in the 24th minute.

Chelsea then restored their advantage shortly before half time when Gary Cahill headed home for 2-1 before Diego Costa ended his goal drought with a header less than 10 minutes after half time.

The Spanish international then made it 4-1 in the 89th minute with a low shot following a superb team move and while the Saints pulled another one back in injury time, Chelsea held on to secure a 4-2 win.

The victory sees Antonio Conte’s men move seven points clear at the top of the table ahead of Tottenham’s trip to Crystal Palace tomorrow night.
