Manchester United and Chelsea have both made enquiries over the availability of Neymar with Jose Mourinho ready to activate his £168.5m buy-out clause this summer, according to reports.

Neymar has developed in to one of the biggest names on the planet since joining Barca from Santos in 2013 with the South American earning millions in endorsements deals with the likes of online poker giants PokerStars.

The forward has scored 100 goals and provided 77 assists to help the Catalan giants win a whole host of honours including 2 La Liga titles and the Champions League.

Understandably, that sort of form has attracted plenty of interest and the Mirror are claiming that Neymar has informed close friends that Man Utd and Chelsea have enquired as to whether he’d be open to a move to England this summer.

Blues boss Antonio Conte is expected to further strengthen his squad ahead of their return to the Champions League and a new marquee striker could be on the agenda with Diego Costa continuing to be linked with a move to China.

However, it seems it’s United who are showing the strongest interest in signing Neymar as the newspaper says the Manchester giants are prepared to activate his £168.5m [€200m] release clause and match his wage demands.

Mourinho’s need to strengthen his attacking options has heightened after Zlatan Ibrahimovic was ruled out for around nine months with a double cruciate knee ligament rupture.

With Wayne Rooney also expected to leave Old Trafford after falling out-of-favour, United are going to need two new forwards this summer and it seems Neymar has now joined Antoine Griezmann on Mourinho’s wish-list.

Many would immediately assume there is no chance Neymar would contemplate leaving Barcelona, however, the Mirror claim the Brazilian sensation is in fact open to the idea of leaving Lionel Messi’s shadow and playing at a club where he’ll be considered as the ‘main man’.

Obviously it would be a sensational coup if United were able to lure Neymar to Old Trafford this summer and it would be incredible to see the 25-year-old plying his trade here in England.

If the South American is keen on leaving Barca, then United are one of the only clubs in the world who have the financial resources to complete a deal so this is one transfer we should keep a close eye on over the coming months.
