BYE PHIL – CAN’T SAY I’LL MISS YOU!

By Fab4

Philippe Senderos has left Arsenal and joined Everton on loan till the end of the season bringing his Arsenal career to an end. I for one am not sad to see him go.

Big Phil arrived and was hailed as the next Tony Adams. At 6ft3″ he had the physical attributes fans want in a centre back. But it soon became apparent that he was prone to the odd mistake or two. He briefly showed signs that he could make it during our run to the 2006 Champions League Final. But as he showed against Liverpool in 2008, when he was at fault for both of Torres’ goals, he doesn’t have the mental strength to be a top class defender at a top class club. Following that match it is believed that Senderos broke down in tears and apologise to his team mates. Sorry, but i cant see big Tony Adams doing that! That was the beginning of the end for Senderos. Whenever he played you always felt it was just a matter of time before he made a mistake.

His ‘dream’ move to AC Milan in 2008/09 turned out to be a nightmare as he failed to nail down a first team spot and returned to Arsenal in the summer. Wenger tried to off-load him but a deal with Everton broke down at the last minute. That was only a temporary delay as he has now made his way to Merseyside on loan and will  try and force his way into the Everton team. With his contract up in the summer, we wont be seeing Philippe Senderos in an Arsenal shirt again. The only disappointment i can see is that he will leave on a free and we wont get a transfer fee for him!
