Arsenal In Talks With Agent Over Signing Of £21m Attacker

Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are linked with Arda Turan….

Arsenal have been in negotiations with the agent of Arda Turan to discuss a potential £21m move move from Barcelona at the end of the season, according to reports in Spain via the Mirror.

Turan made his name with Galatasaray and Atletico Madrid before earning a dream move to Barcelona in 2015 but things haven’t worked out as he would have hoped at the Nou Camp.

The Turkish international has struggled to secure regular first team football under Luis Enrique and has started just 14 La Liga games so far this season with the likes of Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Neymar keeping him out of the attack.

Understandably, the lack of first team football has led to suggestions that Turan will seek a move this summer and it looks as though he could be offered a chance to resurrect his career in the Premier League.

The Times reported last month that Arsenal had identified Turan as a potential summer signing as Arsene Wenger looks to rebuild his squad over the summer transfer window following a disappointing campaign.

It looks like we’ve now stepped-up our interest as the Mirror are citing a report coming from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo that claims Arsenal reps have held talks with Turan’s agent about a possible move to the Emirates.

With the futures of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Lucas Perez all in doubt we are going to need to strengthen our attacking options this summer and it looks like Turan is on the radar.

The Mirror suggest Barca will listen to offers worth £21m and that seems like an excellent piece of business in today’s market so I think Turan would be a solid addition to the squad if we could get a deal agreed.

My only concern is that he predominantly plays on the left side of the attack so he could be viewed as a potential replacement for Sanchez. Turan is a fine talent but he’s not in the same league as Alexis so I’d be a little disappointed if he’s the player we’ve identified to replace our Chilean superstar – if he leaves this summer.
