By on May 14, 2017

Philippe Coutinho scored twice to help Liverpool secure a vital 4-0 win over West Ham at the London Stadium this afternoon and move to within touching distance of the Champions League.

The Reds opened the scoring in the 35th minute when Daniel Sturridge fired home and West Ham missed a glorious chance to level things up on the stroke of half-time when Andre Ayew hit the post from close range.

It turned out to be a vital miss as Liverpool were rampant in the second half with Coutinho dribbling superbly before firing in to the bottom corner from the edge of the area to make it 2-0 in the 57th minute.

The Brazilian international made it 3-0 just minutes later as he lashed home following a swift break away – although the Hammers were aggrieved as replays showed Gini Wijnaldum had handled in the area at the other end before Liverpool broke.

The Merseysiders wrapped-up an impressive win when Divock Origi made it 4-0 in the 76th minute to secure a vital win that sees Liverpool move four points clear of fifth-placed Arsenal.
