Mourinho To Make 4 Changes: Predicted Man Utd XI vs Southampton

Manchester United will look to avoid picking up any further injuries when they take on Southampton at St Mary’s on Wednesday night.

Here is the team I think Jose Mourinho will pick for the game:

Goalkeeper: Mourinho confirmed at his press conference this afternoon that Sergio Romero will start at least one of United’s last two league games and the Argentinean is almost certainly going to be picked tomorrow as David De Gea hasn’t travelled with the squad to the south coast.

Defence: The United boss played a back three at Tottenham on Sunday and it could be retained tomorrow with Eric Bailly keeping his place as he’ll be suspended for the Europa League final.

Mourinho also confirmed at his press conference earlier that Chris Smalling and Phil Jones will start against Southampton so it looks as though it could be an unchanged back three from the one that started at White Hart Lane.

Midfield: Axel Tuanzebe could keep his place in the right wing-back role as Antonio Valencia has once again been rested but Matteo Darmian could come in on the left as Daley Blind will be given a breather having played 90 minutes in the last two fixtures.

Mourinho says Marouane Fellaini will be recalled after completing his three-match domestic suspension and he could be joined by Ander Herrera with Michael Carrick given a rest. Paul Pogba won’t be involved as he’s still in France for his fathers funeral.

Attack: Wayne Rooney could therefore be moved in to a more advanced role with Mourinho confirming that Juan Mata and Anthony Martial will start at St Mary’s on Wednesday night.

Marcus Rashford is in the squad so he should be on the bench while Jesse Lingard and Henrikh Mkhitaryan will also be options for Mourinho along with youngsters Demi Mitchell and Scott McTominay – who’ve both travelled with the squad.

Here is how we think United will line-up:
