West Ham are eyeing audacious swoops for Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial and Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi this summer, according to a report in the Express.

The Hammers endured a difficult first season at the London Stadium but it appears the board are ready to stick with Slaven Bilic and back him in the transfer market this summer.

The Croatian boss seemingly has some ambitious targets in mind as the Express are citing a report from Goal that claims West Ham are interested in signing Martial from Man Utd.

The French international moved to Old Trafford from Monaco in 2015 in an initial £36m deal but after an encouraging first season that saw him finish as United’s top scorer, the attacker has struggled this season.

Martial has failed to hold down a regular place in Jose Mourinho’s starting eleven and it’s resulted in the 21-year-old scoring just 8 goals in all competitions.

It’s led to speculation that United may be willing to cash-in this summer in order to help raise funds for Mourinho’s targets and the report today indicates that West Ham are keen to take him to London.

The Express say the Hammers made their interest known back in December when they asked about a possible loan deal ahead of the January window and it looks as though they’re ready to renew their interest this summer.

Martial would be a sensational piece of business if West Ham could somehow pull it off as he’s a supreme talent who’s just lost his confidence this season. If the Hammers could get him firing again, he’d be one hell of a player.

Bilic is also looking to add a striker to his squad and Goal – via the Express – claim that out-of-favour Chelsea hitman Michy Batshuayi is among his top targets.

Batshuayi made his name at Marseille but struggled to establish himself at Chelsea following a £33m move last summer with the youngster making just 1 Premier League start.

Despite his lack of regular action, the 23-year-old still managed to score an impressive 11 goals in all competitions including the vital winner at West Brom that clinched the title.

Antonio Conte is being tipped to sign another striker this summer which would push Batshuayi even further down the pecking order so a move could be on the cards over the coming weeks.

The newspaper report suggests the Belgian international could be available for around £25m-£30m and I think it would be a good investment if West Ham could agree a deal in that price range.
