Transfer News: Spurs & Liverpool Eye England Ace | Everton To Make Midfielder Bid
Liverpool and Tottenham are among the clubs interested in Luke Shaw while Everton are set to increase their bid for a midfielder…
Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool and Tottenham are among the clubs interested in Luke Shaw while Everton are set to increase their bid for a midfielder…
Shaw on the move?
First up and the Mirror are reporting that Liverpool and Tottenham are among the clubs showing a keen interest in signing Luke Shaw if the defender leaves Manchester United this summer.
The 21-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular first team place under Jose Mourinho having endured another frustrating season that’s been hampered by form and fitness issues.
Shaw missed tonight’s Europa League final after undergoing ankle ligament surgery and isn’t expected to be fit until August but it remains to be seen whether he’ll still be a United player by that point.
The Mirror claim that if United qualify for the Champions League by winning the Europa League tonight, then Mourinho will look to bring in a new experienced left-back which would leave Shaw out in the cold.
The newspaper says the England international is prepared to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place but he could end up being pushed out by Mourinho – who’s publicly criticised the defender this season.
Understandably, there will be no shortage of takers if Shaw is on the market this summer with the Mirror claiming that Liverpool and Tottenham are among the clubs showing a keen interest.
Jurgen Klopp needs a new left-back as Alberto Moreno is expected to leave this summer after falling out-of-favour and Shaw would be an excellent long-term replacement for James Milner – who’s deputised well at the back this season.
However, Spurs are also being tipped to be in the market for a new left-back amid reports that Danny Rose may push for a move in search of higher wages this summer. Perhaps we could see Rose head to United with Shaw coming the other way in a swap deal?
It’s certainly going to be interesting to see what happens over the coming weeks but I think Shaw would be a superb signing if Liverpool or Spurs could get a deal agreed this summer.
Everton plot Bowler bid
Next up and the Mirror are also reporting that Everton are ready to go in with an improved offer for Josh Bowler after Queens Park Rangers knocked back their opening £1.5m bid.
Bowler has emerged as one of the hottest young talents outside of the Premier League and made his QPR debut during the 4-0 defeat to Norwich on the final day of the Championship season.
The 18-year-old midfielder moved to Loftus Road in 2013 after being released by Fulham and progressed through the youth ranks before breaking in to the first team set-up.
Bowler’s potential has seemingly caught the eye of Everton scouts as the Mirror claim that Rangers have rejected their initial offer worth £1.5m which could have risen to £3m with add ons.
However, it looks like Blues boss Ronald Koeman isn’t ready to give up just yet as the newspaper says Everton are now set to test QPR’s resolve with an improved offer.
The Merseysiders are gearing-up for a busy summer with Koeman reportedly having some ambitious targets in mind as he looks to break in to the top six next season.
But the Dutch coach is also keen to add more youth potential to his squad and Bowler would be an exciting player for the future if Everton can get a deal agreed with QPR.
