Man Utd Steal March On Chelsea After Agreeing Terms With £44m-Rated Attacker

Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Chelsea target Ivan Perisic but Inter Milan are demanding £44m to sell the talented attacker this summer

Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd agree terms with Ivan Perisic….

Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Ivan Perisic but Inter Milan are demanding close to £44m to sell the talented attacker this summer, according to a report in the Mirror.

Jose Mourinho is expected to be active in the summer transfer market after booking United’s place in the group stages of the Champions League by winning the Europa League last week.

The ‘Special One’ knows he needs to further strengthen his squad if United are to compete on all fronts next season and a new left-sided attacker appears to be a priority with Anthony Martial’s future in doubt.

The French international enjoyed an excellent debut campaign at Old Trafford following his move from Monaco in 2015 but he struggled to establish himself under Mourinho last season and it looks like a replacement is being lined-up.

Perisic has emerged as a prime target in recent days with Sky Sports News reporting over the weekend that United had tabled an opening £36m offer after Mourinho identified Perisic as a key addition.

Chelsea were then understood to be keen to hijack United’s proposed deal with the Daily Mail reporting that the Blues had lodged their own enquiry for the Croatian international.

Antonio Conte has just led Chelsea to the title in his first season in charge but he needs to further strengthen the squad ahead of their return to the Champions League and Perisic would offer another vital option in attack.

It appears United remain in pole position as the Mirror are citing news coming from Corriere dello Sport journalist Matteo Pedrosi who claims that the Red Devils have now verbally agreed personal terms with Perisic.

However, Chelsea could still be in with a chance of landing the 28-year-old as the newspaper says that Inter are demanding €50m (£43.7m) and so far United have refused to meet that asking price.

If the Manchester giants fail to agree a fee with Inter then the door will be left wide open for Chelsea to swoop in but as it stands it appears United are in the driving seat to sign Perisic this summer.

The former Wolfsburg winger was a rare shinning light in what was a disappointing season for Inter as he scored 11 goals and provided a further 10 assists so he’d certainly bring with him real creativity in the final third if he does come to England.

He’s predominantly played as a left winger but is capable of playing anywhere across the attacking positions so I think he’d be an excellent addition to United or Chelsea if either could get a deal agreed over the coming weeks.
