20-Goal Striker Set For Arsenal Move: Personal Terms & Fee Agreed, Medical Booked

Arsenal are closing-in on the signing of Henry Oneykuru with the KAS Eupen striker due to undergo his medical after agreeing personal terms

Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Henry Onyekuru is closing in on his move to Arsenal

Arsenal are closing-in on the signing of Henry Oneykuru with the striker due to undergo his medical after agreeing personal terms ahead of his £6.8m move from KAS Eupen, according to a report by Football London.

Arsene Wenger isn’t hanging around in the transfer market after signing a new two-year deal and it looks as though the Frenchman is ready to add more goals to his squad this summer.

Onyekuru emerged as a target last month after he caught the attention of Arsenal scouts with his form in front of goal that saw him score 20 goals for KAS Eupen to end the season as the joint top scorer in the Belgian top flight.

A deal looked to be on the cards as Sky Sports News reported last week that we had agreed to pay the 19-year-old’s £6.8m release clause following formal negotiations with KAS Eupen.

It seems the deal is now edging closer to completion as Football London are citing a report from his homeland with OG Nigeria claiming Onyekuru has agreed personal terms with Arsenal over a contract worth around £38,000-a-week.

The teenager made his debut for Nigeria last week during their 1-1 draw with Corsica and he’s also due to feature in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa on June 10th.

Football London’s report says the striker is then scheduled to travel to London to undergo his medical with the Arsenal doctors before finalising his move to the Emirates.

Wenger is expected to sign at least one attacker this summer as Lucas Perez is certain to leave while we may also need to find another forward if Alexis Sanchez fails to sign a new deal over the coming months.

I personally think Onyekuru is being lined-up as a replacement for Perez as the Nigerian international is nowhere near Sanchez’s level so hopefully Wenger has more established targets in mind if we’re forced to cash-in on our Chilean superstar.

Onyekuru is a versatile forward who can play up front but is also capable of playing out on the left side of attack. Obviously it will be a huge jump in quality from the Belgian league to the Premier League but the teenager has plenty of time to develop his talents under Wenger.

The deal looks to be close but the main stumbling block will be getting a work permit as Onyekuru doesn’t meet the required guidelines so we’ll probably have to take the case to an appeal in the hope of getting a ‘special talent’ visa.
