Arsenal Table Formal £87m Mbappe Bid As Wenger Promises Striker Key Role

Arsenal have tabled a record £87m (€100m) bid for Kylian Mbappe with boss Arsene Wenger promising the Monaco striker a starring role at the Emirates

Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal have made a sensational move for Kylian Mbappe…

Arsenal have tabled a record £87m (€100m) bid for Kylian Mbappe with boss Arsene Wenger promising the Monaco striker a starring role at the Emirates, according to L’Equipe via French Football News.

Wenger ended speculation over his future by signing a new two-year contract earlier this week and it looks as though he’s ready to spend heavily this summer to turn Arsenal in to genuine contenders next season.

What better way to do that than to break our club transfer record on one of the hottest properties in world football as French Football News are citing a report from L’Equipe that claims Arsenal have submitted a sensational £87m (€100m) bid for Kylian Mbappe.

The 18-year-old has become the most sought after striker of the summer after enjoying a breakthrough year at Monaco that saw him score 26 goals and provide 14 assists to help fire them to the Ligue 1 title.

His stunning form has attracted interest from some of Europe’s top clubs with French Football News reporting that Real Madrid, Manchester City and Manchester United have all put forward mega offers for the teenage sensation.

However, it looks like we’ve now renewed our interest as Wenger came close to signing Mbappe last summer and was even at the players home trying to persuade him to join Arsenal before he committed his future to Monaco.

French Football News say the full report from L’Equipe states that while Arsenal’s offer is less than the likes of Madrid or City are prepared to pay, Monaco and Mbappe’s decision won’t be based solely on money as they wan’t the best project for the striker.

The newspaper claims that Mbappe has huge respect for Wenger and that the Arsenal boss has promised the teenager a starring role up front if he agrees to move to north London this summer.

Many people are mocking Arsenal for bidding less than our rivals but the fact is Mbappe could be tempted by the chance to be the main man at the Emirates rather than struggling to even start at Madrid or City.

It’s certainly a bold move by Wenger but at least it shows we’re prepared to be ambitious in the market this summer despite missing out on Champions League football for the first time in 20 years.

Obviously I’d love to see Mbappe join Arsenal as he’s a supreme talent who would give us a world class option up front – something we haven’t had for several years – but I still think we’re going to find it difficult to win the race for his signature.
