Liverpool remain in negotiations with Roma over a deal for Mohamed Salah while they are also eyeing Lazio forward Keita Balde as part of a double swoop this summer, according to ESPN FC.
Jurgen Klopp is gearing-up for a busy summer in the transfer market as he looks to build a squad capable of competing in the Premier League and Champions League next season and it appears the Reds boss is looking to strengthen his attacking options.
Salah has emerged as a serious target for Klopp as the BBC reported towards the end of last week that Liverpool had seen an opening £28m bid rejected by Roma for the attacker.
It looks like the Merseysiders haven’t given up hope of agreeing a deal just yet as ESPN claim that sources have confirmed that negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing.
Salah came close to joining Liverpool back in 2014 before opting for Chelsea but he endured a frustrating time at Stamford Bridge and was forced out on loan after struggling to establish himself.
The Egyptian international secured a permanent switch to Roma last summer and has rediscovered his best form in Italy having scored 19 goals and provided a further 15 assists to help Roma finish second the Serie A behind champions Juventus.
The 24-year-old is predominantly a right-winger but he’s capable of playing anywhere across the attacking positions so he’d give Klopp plenty of options in the final third if a deal is agreed for his signature.
Any deal for Salah could be part of a double swoop on Rome as ESPN claim Liverpool are also eyeing a move for Lazio forward Keita Balde as Klopp looks to add to his striking options this summer.
Balde came through the famous Barcelona’s La Masia youth system before sealing a move to Lazio in 2011 and he’s now established himself as an important player having scored 16 goals in just 21 Serie A starts last season.
The report says Liverpool have been scouting the Senegal international since 2014 and could now formalise their interest this summer – although no concrete bid has been submitted as yet.

The 22-year-old’s future is in serious doubt as he’s approaching the final year of his contract and there have been no indications an extension will be signed so Liverpool could snap him up at a bargain price.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but it looks like Klopp is going to be active in the market so it should be an exciting summer for Liverpool fans to enjoy.
