Man Utd Hope To Sign £61m Hitman Ahead Of Arsenal After Offering Bumper 5-Year Deal

Man Utd are hoping to beat Arsenal to the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after Jose Mourinho held talks with the £61m-rated Borussia Dortmund striker

Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd make their move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang…

Manchester United are hoping to win the race to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after Jose Mourinho held talks with the £61m-rated Borussia Dortmund striker about a move to Old Trafford, according to a report in the Mirror.

Aubameyang has just come off the back of a sensational season that saw him score 40 goals in all competitions for Dortmund making him one of the most prolific strikers in Europe.

The Dortmund hitman is expected to leave the Westfalonstadion this summer and while PSG have been strongly linked with Daily Mail reported over the weekend that Arsenal are lining-up a move for the Gabon international.

Arsene Wenger needs to strengthen his squad after missing out on the top four and Aubameyang is the type of world class hitman the Gunners have been lacking in recent years.

Arsenal have the money needed to pull of a deal to sign the 27-year-old, however, it looks as though Wenger will now face further competition from United for Aubameyang’s signature.

Mourinho is in the market for a new striker after losing Zlatan Ibrahimovic and has been forced to move on to alternative targets after Antoine Griezmann pledged his future to Atletico Madrid following the decision to uphold their transfer ban.

Several names have been linked with a move to United in the media but the Mirror are citing Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli as claiming that Mourinho has now made his move for Aubameyang.

The journalist is cited in the newspaper as saying that the United boss has already spoken with Aubameyang about a move to Old Trafford with a bumper five-year deal believed to be on the table.

United obviously have the financial clout needed to compete with Arsenal – or any other club in the world – and they can also offer Aubameyang Champions League football so they should be well positioned to secure a deal if this report is accurate.

I think Aubameyang is a superb striker and would love to see him plying his trade here in the Premier League next season so hopefully United or Arsenal are able to win the race for his signature this summer.
