Arsenal vs Manchester City Premier League

Arsenal take on potential title contenders Manchester City at the Emirates this wednesday. City are already rumoured to have started their winter “gift” shopping as the transfer window has opened. These 2 clubs are so different in the way they approach football, that the clash is not only a clash of football teams but also a clash of policies and values.

Here are the last 5 games between the sides:

24/04-10           Premier League            Arsenal vs. Man City           0:0
04/04-09           Premier League            Arsenal vs. Man City           2:0
25/08-07           Premier League            Arsenal vs. Man City           1:0
17/04-07           Premier League            Arsenal vs. Man City           3:1
22/10-05           Premier League            Arsenal vs. Man City           1:0

Arsenal have picked up 13 out of a possible 15 points against City, however this is the new ‘City’ we are facing and its not going to be easy. I make decisions and I stand up for them. At the end of the day I personally believe that we’ve done extremely well at Wigan, it was a very physical game and the players who have played have done extremely well and I have exactly the same confidence in all the players who are in the squad.

When you look at the team who played at Wigan, it’s a fantastic team and I feel proud and lucky to have so many good players. At the moment my problem is not the players who play, it’s the players who don’t play because of that quality. I will rotate and I could choose that team exactly who played at Wigan, it could play as well against Manchester City, that’s the way it is.

Injury-news:

Tommy-V, Almunia, Diaby and frimpong are still out, defender Kieran Gibbs has returned to full training, but will not feature.

Preferred Team:

————————————————-Luke——————————————————

–Sagna———————Kosher————————-Djourou———————–Clichy—–

———————————Song————————Jack——————————————-

————————————————-Cesc———————————————————

—-Nasri————————————————————————————Arshavin——

————————————————-RVP———————————————————

Subs: Szczesny, Eboue, SQ18, Denilson, Theo, Nikko, Chamakh

Final Thoughts:

I have a feeling that Le boss is going to start with this squad. If i was in his shoes, I’d go with the same squad as the one against Birmingham (5 days rest is quite good). Arshavin did really play well the last time we faced City, and since he was brought on last week, he has a high probability to start. I do expect RVP to start ahead of Chamakh, and if need be the Moroccan can be brought on later. Now I know he said that he may go with the exact squad against Wigan, but I highly doubt that…

Prediction:

Arsenal 2-1 Man City

Cheers,

THE ARMOURY

I think he’ll play chamakh though i hope not. Chamakh wasn’t even in the squad that went to birmingham.

Play the best team then let the fringe players play in the FA CUP AND CARLING CUP

I think you’d do better with a predicted team and a preferred score.

And who the hell is Tommy-V … it sounds like an after-shave.

Same squad but drop Arshavin to the bench, replacing him with Nasri & putting Walcott on the right.
The best (ie most balanced ) EPL performances for a long while have come in the Chelsea & Birminham games when Arshavin hasn’t started.
He doesn’t pull his weight defensively which makes him a passenger in that respect. If someone else has to cover for him it leave gaps elsewhere. If no one covers we are exposed on the left. Either way it weakens the team.

i agree with not starting Arsha. He’s unstoppable on a good day, but you never know hen that day will be. We need players we can rely on day in and day out, and as much as it hurts to say this (because I’m a huge fan of his), the Russian has just not been that player for us this season (so far). Even when he’s had great performances, they’ve been on the final third – his defensive game has been virtually non-existent on a whole this season.

I like Nasri on the left and Theo on the right.

Oh, and we REALLY need Tommy V back before our defense permanently self-destructs. Djourou has been a pleasant positive surprise in V’s absence. I’d like to see those two as a permanent pair in the back. What a team that’ll be!

    Come onn you Gunnas!

In my openion, no need to change the team with bermingham, but we need to take care much more than we did in the last game.
I don’t expect 3 points from this game our highest point would likely be drawing.
but am quite sure that we will lose this game to man city.

    Tommy V? Seriously?
Anyhow, Arshavin should start. he played excellently against Wigan, and he has been starved on the bench for quite some time, he would be roaring when he comes back.

IT WILL GREAT TO SEE THE COMBINATION OF VAN PERSIE,WALCOTT,NASRI UPFRONT, WITH FABREGAS, WILSHERE AND SONG BEHIND THEM AND THEN THE BACK FOUR COMPRISING OF SAGNA,DJOUROU,KOSHNELY AND CLICHY. WE CAN USE ANY OF THE TWO POLES BETWEEN THE STICKS.

    MY PREDICTION IS——ARSENAL 3 : 1 MAN. CITY.
    THANKS
