Midfielder Arrives In London To Undergo Medical & Finalise £35m Chelsea Move

Tiemoue Bakayoko has flown in to London to undergo his medical and finalise terms over his proposed £35.1m move to Chelsea from Monaco this summer

Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Tiemoue Bakayoko is in London to finalise his move to Chelsea

Tiemoue Bakayoko has flown in to London to undergo his medical and finalise terms over his proposed £35.1m move to Chelsea from Monaco this summer, according to the Evening Standard.

Bakayoko has developed in to one of the most highly-rated central midfielders in French football since joining Monaco from Rennes three years ago and he played a key role in helping the club win the Ligue 1 title last season.

The 22-year-old’s superb performances in the middle of the park alerted several clubs to his potential but Chelsea soon emerged as the front-runners for his signature.

Negotiations between the two clubs have been on-going but it looked as though a deal was close after the Mirror reported on Sunday night that Bakayoko was expected to travel to the UK to complete his move to Stamford Bridge this week.

The Evening Standard are now citing a report from French radio station RTL that claims the midfielder arrived in London yesterday to undergo his medical and finalise personal terms after a £35.1m deal was agreed.

The newspaper says the only hold up is Bakayoko’s basic salary as they are still discussing terms over a five-year deal but the contract situation isn’t thought to be a serious issue and an agreement is expected to be reached soon.

So it looks as though Bakayoko is on the verge of completing his switch to west London and he’s set to form a potentially devastating partnership alongside N’Golo Kante in midfield next season.

However, the French international’s arrival will cast further doubt over the future of Nemanja Matic with the Serbian star being heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in recent days.

Antonio Conte is gearing-up for a busy few weeks as he looks to strengthen his squad before Chelsea depart on their pre-season tour of Asia on July 18th, with Bakayoko expected to be the first of many new faces to arrive this summer.
