Lukaku Passes Medical Ahead Of £75m Man Utd Move – But Still Hope For Chelsea?

Romelu Lukaku has completed his medical in the United States ahead of his proposed £75m move from Everton to Manchester United, according to Marca

Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Romelu Lukaku edges closer to joining Man Utd….

Romelu Lukaku has completed his medical in the United States ahead of his proposed £75m move from Everton to Manchester United, according to Marca via the Express.

Lukaku has been tipped to leave Goodison Park this summer after rejecting the chance to sign a new contract and the striker was initially expected to re-join former club Chelsea.

Antonio Conte is desperately trying to sign a new forward after telling Diego Costa he no longer has a future at the club and Lukaku was widely reported to be the Italian’s top priority.

However, the BBC claimed yesterday that Man Utd had made a sensational swoop to hijack Chelsea’s move after agreeing a £75m deal with the Merseysiders for Lukaku’s signature.

The 24-year-old has been holidaying in Los Angeles with close friend and United midfielder Paul Pogba and the Express cite Marca as saying that the striker has now passed his medical tests ahead of his switch to United.

The report from the Spanish outlet comes after the Mirror also reported that Lukaku was due to undergo his medical on Thursday night before linking up with his new team mates on United’s pre-season tour on Sunday.

However, before United fans get too excited there are still conflicting reports suggesting that a medical has NOT been conducted as yet with BBC reporter Simon Stone insisting that United are still waiting for permission from Everton to put Lukaku through his medical.

He tweeted:

So it seems Lukaku’s move to Old Trafford could still not be done and dusted and the Express also suggest that Chelsea remain in the hunt to sign the Belgian international, despite reports claiming that he’s heading to United.

It’s going to be an interesting couple of days as I’m sure we’re going to see a few more twists and turns but I have a feeling we’ll see Lukaku complete his move to United before the end of the weekend.

Jose Mourinho needs to sign a top striker after losing Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Lukaku enhanced his reputation as one of the best forwards in the Premier League after scoring 26 times for Everton last season so I think he’ll be an excellent signing for the Manchester giants.
