Man Utd Tipped To Hijack Chelsea’s Proposed £35m Deal To Sign French Star

Manchester United could now be set to hijack Chelsea’s attempts to sign Tiemoue Bakayoko as his proposed £35m move from Monaco continues to stall

Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Tiemoue Bakayoko…

Manchester United could now be set to hijack Chelsea’s attempts to sign Tiemoue Bakayoko as his proposed £35m move from Monaco continues to stall, according to The Sun.

Bakayoko has developed in to one of the best midfielders in France since joining Monaco in 2014 from Rennes and he played a key role in helping Leonardo Jardim’s side clinch the Ligue 1 title last year.

The 22-year-old has attracted plenty of interest from the Premier League with both Chelsea and Manchester United strongly linked with a move for the player in recent months.

Chelsea emerged as the front runners to secure his signature with the Evening Standard reporting last month that Bakayoko was due to fly to the UK to finalise his move after the Blues had agreed a £35m deal with Monaco.

However, things have gone a little quite in the media in recent weeks and The Sun are citing a report from the Daily Mail that claims Chelsea’s proposed move has stalled as Monaco have grown tired of the Londoners inability to get the deal over the line.

The newspaper says Bakayoko is now unlikely to join Chelsea and suggest that United will turn their attention to signing the French international as their proposed swoop for Nemanja Matic is also set to collapse.

Matic was expected to join United once Chelsea signed Bakayoko but with both deals in serious jeopardy, The Sun claim United could now hijack Chelsea’s attempts to sign the Monaco star just days after snatching Romelu Lukaku from under their noses.

Jose Mourinho is in the market for a long-term replacement for Michael Carrick and Bakayoko would be a superb addition if they were able to lure him to Old Trafford this summer.

If Chelsea were to lose a second key target to United it would be a HUGE blow to the Premier League champions and would cast further doubt over the future of Antonio Conte.

The Italian coach is reportedly growing increasingly frustrated with Chelsea’s transfer business so far this summer as they’ve struggled to secure any of his prime targets – although Sky Sports do say Antonio Rudiger is set to seal a move from Roma.
