Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Manchester United are given a boost in their pursuit of Gareth Bale….
Manchester United have been given hope they could pull off a sensational move to sign Gareth Bale after Zinedine Zidane refused to rule out the idea of the attacker leaving Real Madrid this summer, according to the Telegraph.
United have held a long-standing interest in Bale as they’ve continued to monitor his situation after missing out on his signature when he joined Madrid from Tottenham back in 2013.
The Welsh superstar has continued to forge a reputation as one of the best attackers in Europe during his four years at the Bernabeu having helped Madrid win three Champions League’s and a La Liga title.
However, Bale’s future in Spain is in some doubt as speculation in recent days has suggested Madrid could cash-in on the 28-year-old in order to help fund their pursuit of Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe.
The Daily Star reported earlier this week that Madrid could sell Bale to United as they close in on a £161m deal to sign Mbappe and the Telegraph agree that the former Spurs star is the most expendable of their current front three as Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo are highly unlikely to be sold.
This news alerted Jose Mourinho and United’s hopes of pulling-off a sensational deal have now been boosted after Zidane refused to rule out the possibility of Bale leaving this summer.
When asked about the prospect of Bale leaving, the Madrid boss is quoted by the Telegraph as saying:
“I hope they all stay for this season. I hope everyone remains. I want everyone who is here now to stay, but anything can happen right up until August 31.”
Mourinho has confirmed that he’s in the market for a new wide-man and United have been strongly linked with a move for Ivan Perisic but are struggling to agree terms with Inter Milan.
The Croatian international would be a solid signing but he’s not in the same class as Bale and the Welshman would be a sensational addition if United could somehow pull it off.
If Madrid do need to raise extra money to fund their move for Mbappe then Bale could be at risk and United are one of the only clubs in the world who could realistically afford him.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but I think Bale would be an excellent addition to Mourinho’s squad and I’d love to see him back playing in the Premier League again.
