Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Nemanja Matic has completed his move to Man Utd…

Nemanja Matic has been snapped in his new Manchester United kit after he completed his £40m move from Chelsea this evening.

Jose Mourinho has been in the market for a new central midfielder to act as a long-term replacement for 36-year-old Michael Carrick and Matic soon emerged as a prime target.

The Serbian international was looking to leave Chelsea following the arrival of Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco and Mourinho was desperate for a reunion at Old Trafford having previously worked with Matic during his time at Stamford Bridge.

News emerged online yesterday that a deal was close and the 28-year-old was understood to have travelled to Manchester to undergo his medical on Sunday afternoon.

Those formalities were swiftly completed and United announced on this evening that Matic has joined the club on a three-year deal with the option to extend for a further year.

Neither club has confirmed the precise details of the fee involved but Sky Sports News claim United are paying Chelsea £40m – although this may include £5m of achievable add ons.

After completing his move, Matic told this clubs website:

“I am delighted to have joined Manchester United. To work with Jose Mourinho once again was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.

“I have enjoyed my time at Chelsea and would like to thank the club and the fans for their support. I cannot wait to meet my new team-mates and to start training with them.

“This is a very exciting time for the club and I am looking forward to playing my part in creating more history for this great club.”

Matic will wear the No.31 shirt and I think he’ll prove to be an excellent signing for United as he’ll be a solid partner for Ander Herrera and give Paul Pogba more license to roam forward and influence attacks.

The former Benfica midfielder was a key part of Mourinho’s Chelsea team that won the title in 2015 and again under Antonio Conte last season but it appears the Blues have decided to cash-in following Bakayoko’s arrival.

Matic becomes United’s third signing of the summer window with centre-back Victor Lindelof and striker Romelu Lukaku already on board but Mourinho is expected to be in the market for at least one more new addition.
