Tottenham have stolen a march on Arsenal and Manchester United after submitting a £25m bid for Fulham full-back Ryan Sessegnon.
Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the final weeks of the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Tottenham make their move for Ryan Sessegnon….
Tottenham have stolen a march on Arsenal and Manchester United after submitting a £25m bid for Ryan Sessegnon but it looks like Fulham are determined to keep hold of the full-back, according to the Mirror.
Sessegnon developed in to one of the hottest properties outside of the Premier League after enjoying a breakthrough campaign at Crvan Cottage last season that led to him scoring 7 goals in 31 appearances.
The 17-year-old has been with Fulham since he was just nine-years-old and progressed through the youth ranks to establish himself as a first team regular at left-back while he’s also represented England at youth level.
Understandably, such a talent attracted plenty of interest from the upper echelons of the Premier League with the Mirror claiming that Arsenal, Man Utd and Spurs were among the clubs are hoping to sign him this summer.
Sessegnon appeared to end speculation surrounding his future after signing a three-year contract in June but that hasn’t stopped some of England’s big-boys from circling.
It looks like Tottenham have now stolen a march on the likes of Arsenal and United as the newspaper says the north Londoners have tested Fulham’s resolve with a whopping £25m bid.
Mauricio Pochettino has vowed to be active during the closing weeks of the window after failing to bring in any new signings so far and it appears the Spurs boss is keen to lure Sessegnon to White Hart Lane.
However, it looks like Tottenham may be set for disappointment as the Mirror claim that Fulham have already knocked back the mega bid and insist that Sessegnon is not for sale at any price this summer.
£25m is a huge sum for a teenager who’s only played at Championship level but Sessegnon is considered a special talent so you can appreciate why Fulham have decided to hang on to him for at least another year.
If the youngster continues to develop over the coming season then he’ll be worth a lot more next summer when the likes of Arsenal, Spurs and United may all battle-it-out for his signature.
