Tottenham Agree £20m Deal To Sign Ligue 1 Star Ahead Of Chelsea & Man Utd
Tottenham have agreed a deal worth around £20m to sign Chelsea and Man Utd target Serge Aurier from Paris Saint-Germain.
Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the final weeks of the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Serge Aurier appears to be heading for Tottenham…
Tottenham have agreed a deal worth around £20m to sign Serge Aurier with the Paris Saint-Germain full-back set to sign a five-year contract at White Hart Lane, according to L’Equipe via the Mirror.
Aurier has been tipped to leave the Parc des Princes in recent months following the arrival of Dani Alves on a free transfer and he was axed from PSG’s pre-season plans in order to resolve his future.
The 24-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League this summer with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham all reportedly showing an interest.
French Football News reported recently that Chelsea have approached Aurier’s representatives to discuss a potential move to Stamford Bridge as Antonio Conte looks to sign competition for Victor Moses in the right wing-back position.
The news outlet also suggested that United had identified Aurier as a potential target as Jose Mourinho looks to further strengthen his squad this month and the Ivory Coast international would be viewed as a long-term replacement for Antonio Valencia.
However, it seems Spurs have now moved in to pole position as the Mirror are citing a report from L’Equipe that claims the north Londoners have agreed a deal with PSG worth around £20m to sign Aurier this summer.
The French outlet goes on to state that personal terms over a five-year contract have also been agreed so the full-back looks to be heading to Tottenham before the end of the month.
Mauricio Pochettino has vowed to be active during the closing stages of the window after failing to sign a single player so far this summer and a new right-back to replace Kyle Walker following his move to Man City is a priority.
Aurier’s career may have stalled slightly over the past couple of years but he’s still a top class full-back with huge potential so I think he’ll be a superb signing for Spurs if they do end up securing his signature.
