Chelsea are still hoping to pull-off a swoop to sign £80m-rated Torino striker Andrea Belotti as the club try and resolve the situation surrounding Diego Costa, according to the Daily Star.

Costa is yet to return to pre-season training after being told by Conte he wasn’t part of his plans this season and the striker has been spending time with his family back in his native Brazil.

Chelsea have struggled to find a buyer for the 28-year-old so they’ve now ordered him to return to Cobham to get back in shape in the hope of attracting fresh interest before the end of the month.

However, it remains to be seen whether Costa will agree to Chelsea’s demands amid reports the striker is prepared to remain in Brazil without pay until he can secure a move in January.

The Blues have splashed out on the signing of Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid to replace Costa and the Spanish international scored on his Premier League debut at the weekend.

But the Daily Star claims Antonio Conte is still not convinced by Michy Batshuayi so the Chelsea boss is still plotting a late swoop for Belotti in order to further strengthen his attacking options.

The 23-year-old enjoyed a superb campaign last season that saw him score 28 goals in just 38 games for Torino to forge a reputation as one of the best strikers in Europe.

That sort of form saw the Italian international attract interest from several top clubs during the early stages of the summer but as of yet nobody has been able to agree terms with Torino.

We’ll have to wait and see whether Chelsea are able to strike a deal but they better be prepared to dig deep as the Daily Star claim the Serie A side are demanding a whopping £80m for their star man.

If Chelsea do end up landing Belotti the striker will become the clubs fifth major signing of the summer following the arrivals of Willy Cabellero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Morata.
