Midfielder Admits Interest In Joining Arsenal Amid Reports Of £10m Gunners Swoop

CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin has admitted he’d be interested in joining Arsenal amid reports Arsene Wenger is lining-up a £10m move

Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the final weeks of the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Aleksandr Golovin has spoken out about Arsenal’s interest in him…

CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin has admitted he’d be interested in joining Arsenal amid reports Arsene Wenger is lining-up a £10m move this summer, according to TeamTalk.

Golovin has been with CSKA his entire professional career after progressing through their youth system and is considered as one of the brightest prospects in Russian football having already earned 15 caps for his country.

The 21-year-old’s potential has caught the attention of Arsenal with TeamTalk claiming that we’ve sent scouts to watch the midfielder on several occasions over the past year.

Wenger is still in the market for further signings during the closing stages of the window and the report suggests that the Arsenal boss has been tipped to launch a £10m swoop for Golovin this summer.

No formal offer has been put on the table as yet but the Russian youngster has now admitted that he’s flattered to have attracted interest from a club like Arsenal and suggested he would be keen on a move if the opportunity to play in Europe arose.

Golovin is quoted as saying by TeamTalk:

“Of course, I will be pleased that such a club [Arsenal] is interested in me. In my opinion, every football player, regardless of their age, wants to play in Europe – I’m not an exception.”

CSKA general director Roman Babaev has previously confirmed that while no formal offer has arrived from Arsenal we did scout Golovin during this summer’s Confederations Cup.

Babaev is quoted as saying by TeamTalk:

“No, CSKA did not receive an offer from Arsenal. I admit that the London club’s scouts viewed Alekandr [during the] Confederations Cup. He was one of the best parts of our team.”

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but I’ve said for several weeks that we need to sign another central midfielder as I don’t think we can rely on our current crop.

However, as much as Golovin is a big talent with huge potential, I’d personally like to see us sign a more established player who’d be ready to command a first team place straight away.
