Want-Away £50m Spurs Star Set For Crunch Talks As Man Utd & Chelsea Eye Late Swoop
Danny Rose is set to hold crunch talks with Tottenham this week as Manchester United and Chelsea eye swoops for the £50m-rated full-back
Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the final weeks of the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, more on the future of Danny Rose…
Danny Rose is set to hold crunch talks with Tottenham this week as Manchester United and Chelsea eye swoops for the £50m-rated full-back, according to the Independent.
Rose rocked Tottenham earlier this month after questioning the clubs transfer policy during an explosive interview where he also claimed he wasn’t being paid what he is worth at White Hart Lane.
The 27-year-old also expressed his desire to start winning trophies and cast doubt over his future after admitting he would consider any offer that came in for him with a move back up north his preference.
Tottenham responded to the outburst by fining the England international and Mauricio Pochettino insisted the matter had been put to bed after Rose issued a public apology.
However, that hasn’t stopped the media from linking Rose with a move away from White Hart Lane and the Independent claim Man Utd and Chelsea are both interested in signing the left-back.
Jose Mourinho has suggested he’d still like to sign a left-sided player who can play in the wing-back role if needed and Rose would be the ideal fit as he would solve what has become something of a problem area for United.
Antonio Conte is also desperate to further strengthen his squad after growing increasingly frustrated by Chelsea’s transfer business and Rose would provide stiff competition for Marcos Alonso.
The Independent claim Rose would be open to a lucrative move before the end of the month and his representatives are due to hold crunch talks with Tottenham today where his future will be decided.
The newspaper says Spurs don’t want to sell and they will make their position clear during the meeting but if Rose forces a move they will demand at least £50m for his signature.
Rose only signed a five-year contract last summer so Tottenham are under no pressure to sell him any time soon but they must decide whether to force him to stay if the defender makes it clear he’d like to join the likes of Chelsea or United.
The former Leeds United full-back is currently working his way back to full fitness from a knee ligament injury that he suffered back in January but he’s due to return to action next month.
