Arsenal vs Leeds: Preview, Preferred Team & Predicted Score

Emirates stadium

Arsenal take on Leeds United in the FA Cup at the Emirates tomorrow. Changes shall be rampant as the Gunners are favourites for the tie, but lets not underestimate Leeds as after all they did knock out Manchester united last year in the FA Cup.

Here are the last 5 matches against Leeds at Home:

16/04-04           Premier League           Arsenal vs. Leeds           5:0
04/05-03           Premier League           Arsenal vs. Leeds           2:3
21/08-01           Premier League           Arsenal vs. Leeds           1:2
05/05-01           Premier League           Arsenal vs. Leeds           2:1
28/12-99           Premier League           Arsenal vs. Leeds           2:0

Arsenal have picked up 9 points out of a possible 15 against Leeds United but tomorrow maybe a different story all together. Leeds did knock out the current League leaders last year in the FA Cup so lets not assume that they shall be blown away!

There is no “new” injury to the squad as such, however the Boss did confirm that he may rest RVP and Nasri has both have picked up knocks.

“We will rotate. There are going to be changes, many changes.

“It will be good to have Kieran back and Eboue will play as Sagna is suspended.

“I cannot give you the team yet. I have somewhere in my mind that I will make changes but I don’t know who will play.

“From last night, we have no serious injuries. I believe that Nasri and Van Persie could be short for Saturday. They have kicks – Van Persie on the hip and Nasri on the ankle. It is a question of days.

“They have a chance to recover in time. But [anyway] I will certainly rest Van Persie and maybe Nasri.”

Predicted Team

Subs: Luke, Clichy, Cesc, Kosher, Theo, JET, Vela.

Final Thoughts:

Well, there shall be changes and in all honesty there shall be loads of them. It’s obvious that 4 days later when we travel to Ipswich we shall require a fresh squad, and after that its a short visit to East London on the 15th. Anyway lets not bother about that too much ! I expect a strong bench incase Leeds get a goal and load up at the back. Some may say that JET may start, and I think he shall.

But if he does then I guess Chamakh shall sit, with Rosicky playing behind Nikko. JET shall move to the left and AA23 to the right (interchangeable). Rosicky will be crucial in holding and controlling the midfield, and shall most likely play the CAM role.

    Eboue, Squillaci, Koscielny, Gibbs
    Denilson, Eastmond
    Bendtner, Chamakh, Arshavin

Subs: Luke, , Cruise, Cesc, Ramsey, Walcott, JET, Vela

Will AW risk putting Cruise in as a sub? He plays both as LB and CB and turns 20 in a couple of months. Also, as Vela will go out on loan, is there any benefits at letting him get a game or should this game be used to ensure progress into 4th round as well as getting some players back to full speed. Cesc and Walcott only on if we really need to, give Ramsey 30 – 45 min and also give JEt more than the usual 5 – 10 min. AW has so many options except for the back 5.
