Italian Star Flying To London For Medical Ahead Of £21m Chelsea Move

Davide Zappacosta is flying-in to London to undergo a medical and complete his move to Chelsea after the Blues agreed a £21m deal with Torino

Deadline day is here and managers are frantically trying to get those last minute deals over the line so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea close-in on Davide Zappacosta…

Davide Zappacosta is flying-in to London to undergo a medical and complete his move to Chelsea after the Blues agreed a £21m deal with Torino, according to the Daily Mail.

Antonio Conte has been desperately trying to strengthen his full-back options all summer and the Blues boss has been frustrated with his pursuit of several key targets in recent weeks.

Competition for Victor Moses in the right wing-back position is of primary importance and Conte has been forced to look elsewhere after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain snubbed Chelsea in favour of a move to Liverpool.

It looks like the Blues boss has cast his eye to his homeland as the Daily Mail claim Chelsea are closing-in on a £21m deal to sign Torino right-back Zappacosta.

The newspaper says the 25-year-old is en route to London with his lawyer Luca Pastore to undergo his medical and sign a four-year contract worth £45,000-a-week after tax.

Zappacosta has been with Torino since joining the club from Atalanta in 2015 and he’s been capped four times by the Italian national team having previously played for the under-21s.

He’s a specialist right-back who’s also capable of playing as a wing-back so he’s the perfect addition for Conte and should be a useful signing for Chelsea if they get this deal over the line before tonight’s 11pm deadline.
