Romelu Lukaku was on target against his former club as Manchester United thrashed Everton 4-0 at Old Trafford this afternoon to move level on points at the top of the table.

United made the perfect start as Antonio Valencia opened the scoring with a stunner with the full-back lashing home in to the top corner from the edge of the area in the 4th minute.

Everton held out until deep in to the second half before a late rally secured United the three points as Henrikh Mkhitaryan slotted home the second in the 83rd minute following some sloppy passing by the Toffees.

Lukaku was then on hand to poke home at the far post to continue his excellent goal-scoring form to make it 3-0 before Anthony Martial came off the bench to convert from the penalty spot in injury time after Morgan Schneiderlin had handled in the area.

The win sees United move level on points with Manchester City at the top of the table with the two sides separated by alphabetical order as the Manchester giants have an identical record and boast a goal difference of +14 after just 5 games.
