Arsenal To Battle Tottenham Over Signing Of Ligue 1 Star In January

Arsenal and Tottenham are ready to battle-it-out over the signing of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot during the January transfer window

The transfer window is now closed but clubs are already thinking ahead to January and next summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Adrien Rabiot is linked with a move to north London….

Arsenal and Tottenham are ready to battle-it-out over the signing of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot during the January transfer window, according to a report in the Mirror.

Rabiot joined the PSG youth ranks in 2010 and has developed in to one of the most highly-rated young midfielders in European football since breaking in to their first team in 2012.

The 22-year-old is finally establishing himself as a first team regular as he’s started all seven of PSG’s games so far this season having made 30 starts in all competitions last year.

However, Rabiot’s long-term future at the Parc des Princes is in doubt as he has less than two years left to run on his current contract and is yet to agree terms over an extension.

It’s led to speculation suggesting the French international could be on the move over the coming months and it seems he’s going to be offered a fresh start here in the Premier League.

That’s because the Mirror are citing a report from Calciomercato that claims Arsenal and Tottenham are ready to battle-it-out over Rabiot’s signature when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Arsene Wenger has long been touted as a fan of the Frenchman’s and the Gunners could be eyeing Rabiot as a long-term replacement for Santi Cazorla – who’s still recovering from a long-term Achilles injury.

Spurs could also do with another top class option in the middle of the park to compete with the likes of Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama and Rabiot would be a superb addition to Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

However, the Mirror claim that PSG are reluctant to let the midfielder leave due to his homegrown status while Inter Milan are also understood to be showing a keen interest in signing Rabiot so Arsenal and Tottenham will face a tough task landing the player this winter.
