[Video Goals] Crystal Palace 2-1 Chelsea: Zaha Stuns Blues As Champions Crash

By on October 14, 2017

Crystal Palace got their first points on the board as they stunned defending Premier League champions Chelsea with a 2-1 win at Selhurst Park this afternoon.

Palace got off to an encouraging start and they scored their first goal of the season in fortuitous circumstances as Yohan Cabaye’s loose touch in the area rebounded off Cesar Azpilicueta and past Thibaut Courtois for 1-0 in the 11th minute.

It didn’t take long for Chelsea to equalise as summer signing Tiemoue Bakayoko rose high to head home from a corner in the 18th minute to level things up at Selhurst Park.

However, the hosts restored their advantage on the stroke of half-time when Wilfried Zaha – back in the side following injury – scored a superb goal in the 45th minute after Willian had lost possession in midfield.

Chelsea pushed to find an equaliser after the break but struggled to create any clear cut chances so Palace held on to secure a much-needed win while the Blues will drop out of the top four if Arsenal get anything at Watford this evening.
