Mohamed Salah helped himself to a brace as Liverpool thrashed Maribor 7-0 in their Champions League group game this evening.

The Reds came flying out the blocks and opened the scoring in the 4th minute as Roberto Firmino tapped home following good work from Salah before Philippe Coutinho made it 2-0 with a fine finish from the edge of the area.

Salah then got his first of the night with a well placed finish in the 19th minute before the Egyptian international made it 4-0 shortly before half time with a simple close-range finish.

The goals kept flowing after half-time as Firmino headed home from a Coutinho free-kick in the 54th minute before Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain came off the bench to make it 6-0 in the 86th minute.

Liverpool completed the rout in injury time as young full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold’s effort from the edge of the area deflected in to the net to make it 7-0.

The win moves Liverpool on to five points and they now sit top Group E on goal difference from Spartak Moscow after they beat Sevilla 5-1 in tonight’s other group game.
