[Photos] Only 7 First Team Regulars Train As Arsenal Prepare For Norwich Clash
It looks like Arsene Wenger is ready to field a severely weakened side for Arsenal’s League Cup fourth round clash with Norwich City tomorrow night.
It looks like Arsene Wenger is ready to field a severely weakened side for Arsenal’s League Cup fourth round clash with Norwich City at the Emirates tomorrow night.
The boss has been selecting his fringe players and youngsters in the cup competitions so far this campaign and it will be more of the same when the Canaries come to north London.
Understandably, Wenger is set to rest his key men and there was no sign of Laurent Koscielny, Granit Xhaka, Per Mertesacker, Nacho Monreal, Sead Kolasinac, Hector Bellerin, Aaron Ramsey, Alexis Sanchez, Alexandre Lacazette or Mesut Ozil at training today.
They all started during the 5-2 victory over Everton on Sunday so it’s no surprise they’ve been given the night off but all of those players who were on the bench at Goodison Park are expected to get recalls tomorrow.
Theo Walcott, Olivier Giroud, Alex Iwobi, Francis Coquelin, Mohamed Elneny, Rob Holding and Jack Wilshere were the only first team outfield players to be involved at London Colney today and I think all will line-up against Norwich.
Mathieu Debuchy was another experienced head who took part in training and the 32-year-old should be given another chance to impress after making a solid first appearance of the season against Red Star Belgrade last week.
The rest of the squad will be supplemented by youngsters with Reiss Nelson, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and goalkeeper Matt Macey all pushing for starts tomorrow night.
Chuba Akpom, Eddie Nketiah, Ben Sheaf, Josh Dasilva, Marcus McGuane, Jordi Osei-Tutu and Joe Willock could also be in the squad after training with the first team today.
