Liverpool will be looking to boost their Champions League qualification hopes with a win when Maribor arrive at Anfield on Wednesday night.

Ahead of the game, Jurgen Klopp has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s given reporters a team news and injury update.

The Reds boss confirmed that Philippe Coutinho would need to be assessed after missing Saturday’s Premier League win over Huddersfield Town due to an adductor injury.

Dejan Lovren also sat-out the 3-0 victory at the weekend after picking up a thigh injury during the warm-up and Klopp says he’ll make a final decision on both players once tonight’s training session is out the way.

The Liverpool boss also revealed that Alberto Moreno will need to be checked over after suffering cramp on Saturday while Joe Gomez also picked up a knock against Huddersfield so Klopp will make a late decision over his starting eleven.

Klopp is quoted as saying by the Liverpool Echo.

“I am not 100 per cent sure [if Coutinho and Lovren will play]. They are both much better but whether they will be ready for tomorrow, I don’t know at this moment.

“We have to see. We have a session at 5pm and we will see who will be involved. I hope for both.

“If they will not train, especially in Dejan’s case, that does not mean he cannot play. In Dejan’s case if he could train tonight and tomorrow, that would be enough.

“We have a few little things, Alberto (Moreno) had a cramp, Joe (Gomez) felt a little bit. So we were really careful the last few days. Tonight and especially tomorrow morning I will really think about the line-up.”

Liverpool are the heavy favourites to beat Maribor tomorrow night after thrashing them 7-0 in the reverse fixture two weeks ago so Klopp won’t need to take any chances on his injury doubts.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson can come in for Moreno and Gomez while Ragnar Klavan could continue alongside Joel Matip in the middle of the defence if Lovren is ruled out.

Klopp also has plenty of options in attack with the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Dominic Solanke pushing for recalls while Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah can play on the wing so there is no need to rush Coutinho back to face Maribor.
