Liverpool v Maribor: Team News | Expected Line-Up | Match Prediction | Betting

Liverpool play host to Maribor in the Champions League tonight. Here is our preview including team news, line-up and prediction

Liverpool will be looking to boost their Champions League qualification hopes with a win when Maribor arrive at Anfield this evening.

The Merseysiders currently sit top of Group E after thrashing the Slovenian minnows 7-0 in the reverse fixture two weeks ago so a win tonight would put them in a strong position to progress.

However, only goal difference separates the Reds from Spartak Moscow while third-placed Sevilla are only one point behind on four points so the group couldn’t be tighter heading in to tonight’s games.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have stuttered of late as they only won two games in all competitions last month but this evening’s game offers the perfect opportunity to secure a morale-booting win ahead of Saturday’s trip to West Ham.

Team news

Liverpool are set to be without Philippe Coutinho as the attacker missed training yesterday due to an adductor injury that kept him out of the win over Huddersfield at the weekend.

Dejan Lovren is also expected to miss out due to a groin injury that he picked up in the warm-up on Saturday so Ragnar Klavan could continue in the back four.

Sadio Mane and Adam Lallana are pencilled in to make their comebacks after the international break but this game comes too soon while Nathaniel Clyne is also still on the sidelines.

Klopp revealed yesterday that Joe Gomez and Alberto Moreno picked up minor concerns at the weekend so Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold are expected to get recalls.

Jordan Henderson and Roberto Firmino could be rested with Erme Can and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain coming in while Loris Karius is set to return in goal.

Expected Line-Up

Predicted Score

Liverpool 4-0 Maribor: The Reds hammered Maribor in Slovenia but I don’t think the visitors will be as open this evening so I can’t see a repeat of the 7-0 scoreline. However, the gulf in quality is clear and I still expect Liverpool to ease to a comfortable win tonight to maintain their place at the top of the group.
