Manchester United will be looking to close the gap on leaders Manchester City with a positive result when they take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

Here is the team I think Jose Mourinho will pick for the game:

Goalkeeper: David De Gea is probably one of the first names on Mourinho’s team sheet so the Spanish international is certain to keep his place between the sticks tomorrow unless he picks up a late injury.

Defence: The United boss could revert to a 3-4-2-1 formation as he has done against most of the top sides this season so we should see Phil Jones getting a recall after being rested in midweek.

Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling both started against Benfica on Tuesday night and I expect they’ll keep their places in a back three alongside Jones.

Antonio Valencia is set to be recalled in the right wing-back position with Matteo Darmian dropping out while Ashley Young should start on the left with Daley Blind making way.

Midfield: Paul Pogba is still working his way back to full fitness following a long-term hamstring injury while Marouane Fellaini is also still nursing a knee injury that’s kept him out for the past month.

Michael Carrick remains out through illness so Ander Herrera is expected to be recalled alongside Nemanja Matic after being rested against Benfica. Youngster Scott McTominay will make way despite impressing in midweek.

Attack: Mourinho is likely to stick with his policy of rotating Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford with the England international set for a recall in attack against Chelsea tomorrow.

Romelu Lukaku will be desperate to end his goal drought against his former club as the Belgian international will lead the line up front once again at Stamford Bridge.

It will be interesting to see who Mourinho goes with in the final place in attack but I think Juan Mata could get the nod against his former employers with the likes of Jesse Lingard and Henrikh Mkhitaryan having to make-do with a place on the bench.

Here is how we think United will line-up:
