The transfer window may be closed but clubs are still working hard ahead of January and next summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal and Liverpool are linked with Keylor Navas…

Arsenal are ready to battle-it-out with Liverpool over the signing of want-away Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas next summer, according to reports in Spain via TeamTalk.

Navas has been at Madrid since joining the club from Levante in 2014 having impressed for Costa Rica during the World Cup in Brazil that summer.

The 30-year-old has been Zinedine Zidane’s number one for the past two years and he’s played a key role in helping Los Blancos win consecutive Champions League trophies and one La Liga title.

However, TeamTalk are citing reports coming out of Spain from Diario Gol that claim Navas is unsettled at the Bernabeu as he feels Madrid president Florentino Perez doesn’t trust him.

Madrid have been heavily linked with David De Gea in recent transfer windows and the Manchester United stopper came within minutes of joining the Spanish giants on deadline day in 2015.

It seems Navas is tired of the uncertainty surrounding his position as TeamTalk claim the Costa Rican international wants to leave and is already looking for a new club to join in the summer.

The situation has alerted clubs here in the Premier League as the report says Arsenal have now joined Liverpool in the race to sign Navas and the pair are keen to lure him to England at the end of the season.

Petr Cech Arsenal

Arsene Wenger needs to find a long-term replacement for Petr Cech as the 35-year-old is coming towards the end of his career and his form has been steadily declining in recent years.

Liverpool’s goalkeeping issues are well documented so it’s no surprise to hear Jurgen Klopp is identifying possible targets and it seems the Reds boss has Navas on his radar.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months but I think Navas would be an excellent signing for Arsenal or Liverpool if either club were able to get a deal agreed with Madrid for his signature.
