Arsenal Ready To Do Business Over £60m Duo As Man Utd Eye January Swoop
Arsenal are ready to cash-in on Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez this winter with Manchester United eyeing a swoop for the £30m-rated German international
The transfer window may be closed but clubs are still working hard ahead of January and next summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are ready to sell their star duo this winter….
Arsenal are ready to cash-in on Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez this winter with Manchester United eyeing a swoop for the £30m-rated German international, according to the Daily Star.
Ozil is out of contract at the end of the season and his future has been at the centre of much debate in recent months after failing to agree terms over an extension at the Emirates.
The Gunners have seemingly refused to meet Ozil’s wage demands and the playmaker has come under criticism from fans, pundits and former players for his disappointing performances this season.
The Daily Star claim Arsene Wenger has now decided to cash-in on the German star if someone meets their £30m asking price in January rather than risk losing him for nothing next summer.
Ozil has been strongly linked with a move to Man Utd in recent weeks and the newspaper says Jose Mourinho is keen to lure the attacker to Old Trafford this winter.
The pair enjoyed a close relationship during their time together at Real Madrid and it seems they could be reunited in Manchester if United agree to meet Arsenal’s reported asking price.
Mourinho would be able to register Ozil to play in the knockout stages of the Champions League during the second half of the season if a deal could be agreed for the 29-year-old’s signature.
Ozil has enjoyed mixed success during his time at Arsenal since moving from Madrid in 2013 as the playmaker has showcased his brilliance at times but has also seen his work-rate and attitude questioned.
A move to Old Trafford would certainly be a controversial one but I could see Ozil relishing the prospect of playing with the likes of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic behind him if he does end up joining United.
Ozil might not be the only high-profile departure at Arsenal as Alexis Sanchez is also in the final year of his contract and the Daily Star claim the north Londoners will also reluctantly cash-in if a club pays £30m in January.
Sanchez came close to joining Manchester City in the summer and they are expected to renew their interest but the newspaper says Arsenal are eyeing a potential swap deal involving PSG’s Julian Draxler instead.
Obviously the Gunners would prefer to sell Sanchez abroad rather than to a domestic rival such as City and I think it would be an excellent deal if they could get Draxler in exchange for the disgruntled Chilean international.
