Boss Confirms Defender Can Join Arsenal, Liverpool Or Tottenham For £5m In January

Charlton boss Karl Robinson has admitted they’ll be forced to sell Ezri Konsa if Arsenal, Liverpool or Tottenham meet their £5m valuation in January

The transfer window may be closed but clubs are still working hard ahead of January and next summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Charlton are ready to sell Ezri Konsa….

Charlton boss Karl Robinson has admitted they’ll be forced to sell Ezri Konsa if the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool or Tottenham meet their £5m valuation in January, according to a report by TeamTalk.

Konsa has been with Charlton his entire career and is widely regarded as one of the most exciting young defenders outside of the Premier League after breaking in to the first team set-up last season.

The 20-year-old’s superb form saw him named as Charlton’s Player of the Year last season and he helped England to success at the U20 World Cup in the summer.

The youngsters potential has also alerted a number of top flight clubs with TeamTalk claiming that Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham are among the clubs who’ve expressed their interest in signing the centre-back.

It looks like the trio are now set for a transfer battle as Robinson has conceded Charlton expect Konsa to be sold when the window reopens in January if a club meets their £5m asking price.

Robinson is quoted as saying by TeamTalk:

“My gut feeling is that he [Konsa] will go in January,”

“If I was him I’d be looking to go in January but we should look for a minimum of £5million. Maybe we could try for a loan back but the player has to want that.”

We’ll have to wait and see if the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool or Spurs will be prepared to pay around £5m for Konsa but that kind of money seems more than reasonable for a player of his potential in today’s market.

English players always seem to command higher transfer fees as well so I think £5m for Konsa would be a great deal as he could develop in to a top class defender at a club like Arsenal, Liverpool or Tottenham.

Let’s see how things develop over the coming weeks but if Konsa continues his impressive form for Charlton then I think it’s only a matter of time before he joins one of the big-boys.
