Arsenal & Man Utd Step-Up Interest In Portuguese International

By on November 21, 2017

The transfer window may be closed but clubs are still working hard ahead of January and next summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal and Manchester United are linked with Danilo Pereira…

Arsenal and Manchester United have stepped up their interest in Danilo Pereira after sending scouts to watch the Porto midfielder last week, according a report in the Daily Mail.

Danilo has developed in to one of the best defensive midfielders in Portuguese football since joining Porto from Maritimo in 2015 and he’s also a regular in the Portuguese national team with 27 caps to his name so far.

The 26-year-old was named in his countries squad for Euro 2016 and made five appearances en route to the final where Portugal shocked France to clinch the trophy.

Danilo has attracted interest from the Premier League with a number of clubs being linked in recent transfer windows and it seems two of our big hitters have now stepped up their pursuits.

The Daily Mail are citing a report from The Sun that claims Arsenal and Man Utd sent scouts to watch the midfielder in action during Porto’s 3-2 victory over Portimonense on Friday night.

The representatives would have been impressed by what they saw as Danilo volleyed home the opening goal direct from a corner as Porto maintained their position at the top of the Primeira Liga table.

Defensive midfield is an area many Arsenal fans feel the club should be strengthening if they want to be genuine title challengers and it seems Arsene Wenger has identified Danilo as a possible addition.

However, United are also in need of a holding midfielder to replace Michael Carrick – who’s expected to leave Old Trafford this summer – and Jose Mourinho is also eyeing a move for the Porto star.

We’ll have to wait and see how things progress but I think Danilo would be an excellent signing for either Arsenal or United if one of the English giants were able to secure a deal for his signature.
