[Teams] Liverpool vs Chelsea: Klopp Springs A Surprise – Confirmed Line-Ups

By on November 25, 2017

Liverpool and Chelsea will be looking to boost their top four hopes when the two giants meet at Anfield this evening.

The Reds blew a three-goal lead to draw 3-3 with Sevilla in the Champions League on Tuesday night but they still go in to the weekend action as the 11/10 favourites to beat Chelsea.

However, those odds may change soon as Jurgen Klopp has made some surprising changes to his starting eleven with Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane dropped to the bench.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Daniel Sturridge come in to join Mohamed Salah in attack while Philippe Coutinho keeps his place along with Jordan Henderson.

Dejan Lovren is injured so Joel Matip returns to partner Ragnar Klavan in defence with Alberto Moreno keeping his place at left-back. James Milner replaces Gini Wijnaldum in midfield.

As for Chelsea, they name a more predictable line-up as Gary Cahill and Andreas Christensen are recalled to the defence with David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger dropping out.

Alvaro Morata is recalled up front with Eden Hazard in support but the only possible eyebrow raiser is that Danny Drinkwater is given the nod ahead of Cesc Fabregas in midfield.

Here are the confirmed line-ups:

Mignolet, Gomez, Matip, Klavan, Moreno, Henderson, Milner, Coutinho, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Salah, Sturridge

Subs: Karius, Wijnaldum, Firmino, Mane, Lallana, Robertson, Alexander-Arnold.

Courtois; Azpilicueta, Christensen, Cahill; Zappacosta, Drinkwater, Kante, Bakayoko, Alonso; Hazard, Morata.

Subs: Caballero, David Luiz, Rudiger, Moses, Fabregas, Willian, Pedro.

With the line-ups now confirmed, perhaps Chelsea fans will be tempted to back their team to win at odds of 5/2 while Eden Hazard to score in a 2-1 win looks good value at 28/1.
