4-3-3: Mourinho To Make 4 Changes | Expected Man Utd XI vs Watford

Manchester United will be looking to keep the pressure on Manchester City with a win when they take on Watford at Vicarage Road on Tuesday night.

Here is the team I think Jose Mourinho will pick for the game:

Goalkeeper: David De Gea was back in goal for the 1-0 win over Brighton on Saturday after being rested for the Champions League loss to Basel last week so I expect the Spaniard to retain his place tomorrow.

Defence: Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian are pushing for recalls after travelling to Watford this evening having been left out of the squad at the weekend.

With a tough trip to Arsenal coming up on Saturday, I think we might see Mourinho protect his ageing full-backs so Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia may get a breather with Darmian and Blind coming in.

Victor Lindelof was praised for his performance at the weekend so he may have done enough to keep his place alongside Chris Smalling with Phil Jones and Eric Bailly still out through injury.

Marcos Rojo made his first start of the season last week so he’ll be hoping to get some more minutes under his belt over the coming games.

Midfield: Mourinho has suggested that Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic were left a little exposed against Brighton so we could see United deploy a three-man midfield at Watford tomorrow.

Marouane Fellaini hasn’t travelled with the squad so Ander Herrera is favourite to get a recall alongside Pogba and Matic if Mourinho does change formation.

Attack: Henrikh Mkhitaryan made a substitute appearance at the weekend after being axed from the squad at Basel but it looks like the attacker is back on the sidelines as he hasn’t travelled to Watford today.

Jesse Lingard is back in contention after being left out against Brighton and he could replace Anthony Martial in attack while Juan Mata may also make way.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic continued his comeback with another substitute appearance on Saturday but I think he’ll have to wait a little longer to start his first game of the season.

Romelu Lukaku should therefore lead the line up front after being cleared of any wrong-doing following an incident against Brighton while Marcus Rashford should also retain his place in the attack.

Here is how we think United will line-up:
