Arsenal star Santi Cazorla has suffered yet another setback in his injury recovery after revealing he’s been forced to undergoing another operation.

Cazorla has not featured for Arsenal since aggravating an Achilles injury during our 6-0 Champions League win over Ludogorets in October 2016.

The Spaniard was only meant to be out a matter of days but he’s endured a torrid time as early complications in his recovery led to the 32-year-old needing eight operations over the past year.

Cazorla did an interview earlier this month that revealed he had damaged the bone around his Achilles and an infection in the wound led to gangrene that could have resulted in his foot being amputated.

The playmaker lost an incredible eight centimeters from his tendon and needed to have a skin graft from his arm to cover the wound on his ankle after it kept opening up.

Cazorla was targetting a return to action in January after stepping-up his rehabilitation, however, those plans have been put on ice as the midfielder has suffered a fresh setback.

Santi took to Twitter this morning to reveal that he’s been forced to undergo yet another operation after feeling discomfort in his Achilles. He tweeted in Spanish:

This message translates to say:

“Due to some discomfort in the tendon that I had been dragging the last few days, I had to go through the operating room again.

“It is time to delay the return date to the playing fields, I maintain the enthusiasm and motivation to return to enjoy my great passion, football.”

This is devastating news for Cazorla and you can only imagine how frustrating it must be for him right now. Let’s pray he can overcome this latest setback and get back on the pitch before the end of the season.
