Arsenal Boss Reveals Alexis Sanchez Injury Concern Ahead Of Man Utd Clash

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Alexis Sanchez picked up a hamstring injury last night but is hopeful the attacker will be fit to face Manchester United

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Alexis Sanchez picked up a hamstring injury last night but is hopeful the attacker will be fit to face Manchester United this weekend.

Sanchez started against Huddersfield Town on Wednesday night and scored the third goal midway through the second half as Arsenal eased to an impressive 5-0 victory.

The Chilean international was withdrawn shortly after scoring and Arsenal fans initially thought he was just being rested ahead of the United game after being replaced by Danny Welbeck.

However, Wenger revealed after the game that Sanchez was actually forced off after picking up a hamstring problem but the Gunners boss is hopeful the 28-year-old will be fit to face United this weekend.

Wenger is quoted as saying by the Mirror.

“Sanchez had a little hamstring problem – that’s why I took him off but I think he will be alright,” he said.

“Look, we have offensive weapons, you know. We have Danny Welbeck, we have Giroud, we have Jack Wilshere who all came on. They are all offensive players.

The news will come as a huge concern for Arsenal as Sanchez is a vital part of their first team and it would be a major blow if he was to miss a crucial game against United.

Alexandre Lacazette is already expected to sit out the match at the Emirates after suffering a groin injury last night so the last thing Wenger needs is losing another key player for such an important game.

Arsenal tightened their grip on fourth place with the win last night and can move to within just one point of second-placed United with victory on home soil this weekend.
