Manchester United will look to guarantee their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League when they take on CSKA Moscow at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

Here is the team I think Jose Mourinho will pick for the game:

Goalkeeper: The United boss has confirmed that David De Gea will get a well-earned rest after his heroics against Arsenal so Sergio Romero will start between the sticks.

Defence: United have gone with a back five in recent weeks and it’s worked well from them so I can see Mourinho sticking with the formation tomorrow, especially as United only need to avoid defeat to book their place in the last-16.

Phil Jones is still expected to miss out due to a thigh injury while Eric Bailly is nursing a groin problem so Mourinho doesn’t have too many options to rotate at the back.

That could see Daley Blind play in the back three alongside Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof with Matteo Darmian coming in for Antonio Valencia in the right wing-back position.

Mourinho has confirmed that Luke Shaw will be in the squad so we could see the England international make a rare start on the left tomorrow with Ashley Young given a well deserved rest.

Henrikh-Mkhitaryan-Manchester-United

Midfield: Nemanja Matic has been ruled out after aggravating an thigh injury during the win at Arsenal while Mourinho also suggested at his press conference that Michael Carrick was still not available.

The United boss also revealed that Paul Pogba will start tomorrow as he’s due to start a three-match domestic suspension following his dismissal against Arsenal.

Marouane Fellaini is expected to miss out with a knee injury so we could see Ander Herrera and youngster Scott McTominay come in to the midfield tomorrow.

Attack: Unfortunately Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been ruled out as he’s suffering from muscle fatigue having only recently returned from a six-month absence with a serious knee injury.

Romelu Lukaku is likely to be rested so Marcus Rashford should lead the line up front while Henrikh Mkhitaryan is set for a recall after being frozen out in recent games.

Juan Mata should also come back in to the starting eleven with Anthony Martial dropping out while Jesse Lingard could also get a breather following his excellent performance against Arsenal.

Here is how we think United will line-up:
