Arsenal & Liverpool To Launch Moves For £90m Attacker But Chelsea Also Keen

Arsenal and Liverpool are set to renew their interest in Thomas Lemar but could face fresh competition from Chelsea for the £90m-rated Monaco attacker

The January transfer window is just around the corner meaning clubs are working hard on potential deals so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, more on the future of Thomas Lemar…

Arsenal and Liverpool are set to renew their interest in Thomas Lemar but could face fresh competition from Chelsea for the £90m-rated Monaco attacker, according to L’Equipe via the Mirror.

Lemar emerged as one of the hottest young attacking talents in European football after providing 14 goals and 17 assists to help fire Monaco to the Ligue 1 title last season.

The 22-year-old attracted interest from Arsenal and Liverpool in the summer with both clubs making big-money attempts to lure the French international to the Premier League.

Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev confirmed in October that Liverpool showed a keen interest but claimed Arsenal came closest to securing Lemar’s signature before seeing a proposed £90m deal collapsed on deadline day.

The French outfit have suggested they may decide to finally cash-in at the end of the season but that stance is set to be tested as the Mirror is citing L’Equipe as saying that Arsenal and Liverpool will launch new moves for Lemar in January.

Arsene Wenger needs to rejuvenate his attacking options with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil expected to leave and Lemar has seemingly been identified as a prime candidate in north London.

Jurgen Klopp is also on the look-out for attacking reinforcements with Philippe Countinho constantly linked with a move to Barcelona and the Liverpool boss appears to have earmarked Lemar as a potential replacement.

However, Arsenal and Liverpool could yet face fresh competition as the report claims Chelsea are also showing a keen interest in the £90m-rated attacker and could yet enter the bidding.

Antonio Conte’s men have endured an inconsistent campaign having fallen 14 points behind leaders Man City and Lemar would certainly provide an added threat in the final third if he did move to Stamford Bridge.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but it looks like three of England’s big-hitters are ready to battle it out over Lemar’s signature this winter – although I have a feeling Monaco will do all they can to keep hold of him until the end of the season.
