£80m Brazilian Ready To Snub Man Utd To Join Chelsea This Winter

Manchester United have been dealt a transfer blow as £80m-rated Juventus full-back Alex Sandro favours a move to Chelsea during the January window

The January transfer window is just around the corner meaning clubs are working hard on potential deals so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Alex Sandro is eyeing a move to Chelsea

Manchester United have been dealt a transfer blow as £80m-rated Juventus full-back Alex Sandro favours a move to Chelsea during the January window, according to The Sun.

Sandro has developed in to one of the best left-backs in Europe since joining Juve from Porto for £22m in the summer of 2015 and he’s helped the Turin club land consecutive Serie A titles.

The Brazilian international attracted strong interest from Chelsea last summer after Antonio Conte earmarked Sandro as the man he wanted to compete with Marcos Alonso in the left wing-back position.

A move failed to materialise and Sandro ended up staying in Turin but The Sun claim the 26-year-old has made it clear to the Serie A giants that he wants to leave this winter.

The Daily Record reported last week that Manchester United had joined Chelsea in the race to sign Sandro in January after Jose Mourinho identified him as a prime target.

Left-back has been a problem area for the United boss as he’s been forced to deploy 32-year-old Ashley Young in the position this season so a long-term solution is needed.

However, it looks like United could miss out on Sandro as The Sun claims the South American has told Juve his preference is to link-up with Antonio Conte at Chelsea.

The Italian coach remains desperate to add another left-sided defender to his squad to help ease the load on Alonso – who’s already made 22 appearances this season – and Sandro would be an excellent addition.

Understandably, Juve are reluctant to lose a key player mid-season, especially as they’re still in the Champions League, so the newspaper says they are demanding £80m for Sandro’s signature.

However, the report claims Chelsea are hoping to use the player’s desire to leave as a way to drive the price down and they plan to test Juve’s resolve with a much lower offer.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but I think Sandro would be an excellent signing and it looks like Chelsea are in pole position to sign him if he comes to England.
