3-5-2: Conte To Make 3 Key Changes | Expected Chelsea XI vs Southampton

Chelsea will be looking to cement their position in the top four when they take on Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

Here is the side we think Antonio Conte will pick for the game:

Goalkeeper: Thibaut Courtois is no doubt one of the first names on Conte’s team sheet so the Belgian international is expected to keep his place between the sticks this weekend.

Defence: Gary Cahill was left on the bench during the 3-1 victory at Huddersfield on Tuesday night but the captain could get a recall on Saturday afternoon.

Antonio Rudiger is the man most likely to make way as Cesar Azpilicueta should keep his place in the back three while Andreas Christensen should continue in the middle of defence with David Luiz still nursing a knee problem.

Davide Zappacosta is pushing for a recall but I think Victor Moses will keep his place in the right wing-back position while Marcos Alonso will no doubt retain his place on the left.

Midfield: Tiemoue Bakayoko silenced his critics with an excellent performance in midweek so the French international could keep his place in midfield this weekend.

N’Golo Kante is expected to once again sit in the holding role in front of the defence and I think we might see Conte decide to go with three central midfielders with Cesc Fabregas coming back in to the side after being rested at Huddersfield.

Attack: That would mean Conte sacrificing one of his attackers and Willian is the man likely to make way despite producing an excellent performance in midweek that saw him score and set-up the other two goals.

Eden Hazard is almost certain to keep his place in attack as he’s a vital player for Chelsea so Willian may have to make-do with a place on the bench this weekend.

Alvaro Morata was rested on Tuesday night due to a minor back complaint but the Spaniard is expected to be recalled on Saturday meaning Pedro will join the likes of Michy Batshuayi on the bench.
