Transfer News: Tottenham In Talks To Sign World Class South American Hitman

By on December 21, 2017

The January transfer window is just around the corner meaning clubs are working hard on potential deals so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Tottenham are linked with Luiz Suarez…

The Daily Star are citing reports coming from Spain that claim Tottenham have opened talks over a potential deal to sign Luis Suarez from Barcelona.

Suarez enjoyed a superb three-year spell at Liverpool before joining Barcelona in 2014 and he’s continued to develop a reputation as one of the best number 9’s in world football during his time in Spain.

The 30-yer-old has provided 130 goals and 73 assists in his 168 appearances for the Catalan giants to help them win a whole host of honours including 2 La Liga titles and the Champions League.

However, Suarez’s future at Barca has been called in to question amid reports the Spaniard’s are eyeing a swoop for Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann next summer.

If the French international moves to the Nou Camp then Suarez’s first team place will be under threat and it seems Tottenham are ready to offer him a fresh start back in the Premier League.

The Express are citing a report from Don Balon that claims Spurs have made contact with Barca to make it clear they are interested in signing Suarez at the end of the season.

The report suggests that Mauricio Pochettino is concerned Harry Kane will be lured away from north London so he’s identified Suarez as the man to replace their talisman.

However, the Spanish publication claims that Suarez isn’t interested in a move to Tottenham as he’d prefer to stay and fight for his place at Barcelona even if they do sign Griezmann.

Personally, I wouldn’t look too much in to this ‘report’ as I don’t think there is any chance Kane will look to leave Tottenham next summer so Spurs won’t be in the market for a world class striker.
