Arsenal Ready To Trump Man Utd With £35m Bid For Italian International

By on December 21, 2017

The January transfer window is just around the corner meaning clubs are working hard on potential deals so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are to make a bid for Daniele Rugani….

Arsenal are ready to launch a £35.4m bid to sign Juventus centre-back Daniele Rugani but could face competition from Manchester United, according to a report in the Mirror.

Rugani has emerged as one of the hottest young centre-back’s in Italian football since joining Juventus as a teenager and he enjoyed a hugely successful two-year loan spell at Empoli between 2013 and 2015.

However, the 23-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular first team place under Max Allegri since returning to Juventus and he hasn’t featured for the Turin giants since late November.

It seems his situation has alerted clubs here in the Premier League as the Mirror are citing reports coming from Italy that claim Arsenal are ready to test Juve’s resolve with a £35.4m bid this winter.

The Gunners have long been linked with Rugani and it seems Arsene Wenger is ready to make his interest official as he looks to tighten up Arsenal’s leaky defence – which has once again undermined any title hopes this season.

With Per Mertesacker set to retire at the end of the season, Wenger needs to find a long-term replacement and Rugani would be an excellent signing if the north Londoners could pull it off.

However, the report from Il Posticipo claims that Arsenal could face competition from Man Utd as Jose Mourinho is also understood to be a huge fan of the Italian international’s.

Victor Lindelof has struggled to establish himself at Old Trafford while Eric Bailly has been ruled out for at least three months with an ankle injury so it looks like Mourinho is on the look-out for another central defender.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but I think Rugani would be a superb signing for Arsenal or United if either club was able to get a deal agreed with Juventus.
