£10m For Another Youth Player. Is It Worth It?

transfer news

If you were to believe the words coming from the British Press, Arsene Wenger is about to spent another £10 million pounds on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The Daily Star wrote that the deal consist of an initial £5million upfront with another £5 million on apperances and performances. Although I have no doubt that Alex is a talented individual and much coveted by many of the Permiership top clubs, I wonder if we need another speedy youngster at all, and at that price.

Over the past year or so, we have plunked down million of pounds on similar type players with Galindo, Silva and Miyachi all yet to make their debut for the Gunners. It really begs the question, is Alex Chamberlain the player we need in the near future? I would have no problem if Arsene buys another talented youth player to bolster the ranks of the defense or midfield, but I believe we have enough attacking talent in our ranks. Inevitably some of the players currently in the Young Gunners will not make it to the first team so why are we getting another one that may prove to be not good enough for the senior team?

This piece of news is unconfirmed but it is no secret that the boss is looking at the Southampton player. It would not be the worst piece of business that he has done over the years but I wouldn’t agree with him on this buy. I would rather keep the dough and be on the lookout for real talents in other departments. Even if he is serious about buying another youth striker, I would rather go for Connor Wickham. At 1.91 meters and still growing, he will add another dimension to the attack, now that we know Bendtner is never gonna be good enough for the senior team.
